I've always loved the moon. My favorite is seeing the moon rise while the sun is setting.
And thank you for these words..."the moon is our common ancestor. No matter your language or where you were born or what name you were given, we are all born under the same moon." They're going in my daily quote book. Thank you. <3
You say things that I hold in my heart, held in my heart for a hundred moons.
But in a way refreshing. And it lifts my thoughts to something delightfully ethereal, allowing me to see what I haven't, and with fresh new eyes and perspective..
Ohhh Andrew, I wish you could bottle your calm and insight so I could access it . Got Mom to early PT, the day sure feels like a challenge -( understatement )
Difficult already . This taking care of a 94 year old isn’t for the faint of heart . But I wish for you, Yaya and Boo all good positive things. You’re Lucky you have each other and dear Momo and your Mom are watching out after each other .
« The moon is a home for the people and dogs I’ve lost. A celestial body bigger than I can understand, but too far to grasp. » thank you Andrew for these words 💙 so i am also a moon noticer, and i love to take these pauses watching her and think about my precious lost friend-dog Moogly… always thinking, from there she is watching me…
Love this. I love the moon. When I can see it out, I always try to take a photo or video with my phone, and the result always never captures it the way I’m seeing it, but I do it anyway. :D
I remember a moment years ago when I was at Lake Como. I woke up in the middle of the night to a wild wind. The moon was huge, so I left my hotel and walked down to the water to watch the moon in the sky and the lake and listen to the wind race between the mountains and across the water. It's a place I go in my mind for a calm moment.
This was beautiful. I love the idea of the moon as ancestor. It is absolutely true. I am a moon noticer, often more around the full moon more than any other time, but I love a good crescent moon or waxing/waning gibbous.
This is gorgeous Andrew, thank you. A beautiful example of how noticing one thing can lead you to noticing another. I keep a note in my phone called 'love is...' and top of that list is 'calls to say "Have you seen the moon tonight?"'. Stunning photos, as ever.
Loved this Andrew. Many times when I’m looking at the moon I think about it still being a part of the Earth…and the enormity of the collision that separated the two. And of how infinitesimal we all are.
One of my favorite memories of noticing the moon was watching the sunset over the ocean at Manzanita, and as it sunk below the horizon, turning around to see a full moon rising. I felt held between the sun and the moon ☺️
Thank you for this reflection. I really appreciate the idea that the moon is a home for the people and dogs we have lost. That makes it even more special.
I too love the moon - I'll often phone my mom to excitedly say "go look at the moon!" And she does.
I remember being out one summer evening a few years ago when there was a total lunar eclipse, and it seemed like half the city was out by the river to watch it. It was a uniting experience.
I love watching the moon. I especially think about how other people must also be watching the moon at that same moment, hoping they also feel happy and are also feeling this connection of looking at the moon together. Admiring the moon always humbles and grounds me.

Wow I can feel this moment. Those are the ones that are cemented in our memory, aren’t they? “A place I go in my mind for a calm moment” 🥲

Oh how I love this! Thank you for grounding me & offering my worried mind a calm place to go. Much love, Sandy

Omg moon history is soooo fascinating. We are so so tiny and insignificant and it's beautiful. Brb gotta go worry about taxes.
Ha!
Such beautiful images because both the moon AND the dogs!!
Thank you Lauri! Amazing what an iPhone can capture.

Relationships bound by excitement over the natural world are the realest. ❤️
