Hello.
This is a segment called Weekly Dogalogue. This is the first one. This is just me. It’s a show and tell of what I’m working on. It’s a conversation with dogs. Maybe with guests. I don’t know. But it’s weekly. Rough. Mistakes are allowed. Oh no did I just start a podcast? No, I didn’t. I swear I didn’t. Ok, I might have.
This would be more fun with someone else but I have no friends so I’m doing this alone. Wanna hop in on a future dogalogue with me? Send me a message! Honestly if I don’t have guests I’ll probably get bored of this in 3 weeks. Place your bets.
Today we (me) discussed:
Staplers
I bought a stapler at the dollar store, against my better judgement. It is a terrible product. Do not buy a stapler from the dollar store. Then I bought an $18 stapler from a local copy shop and it’s also terrible. Now I have to buy a third stapler. It better be one that works. I hate buying things. I also love it and that’s a problem.
Books
I’m working on two scenes this coming week. I’m working on a “music in the park” scene, working with local musician simbi as the musician for the scene. Have to decorate the gazebo, so made a pennant ribbon flag rope thing. Then I’ll be doing a little forest scene with some signage I showcase for you elegantly in the video above.
Animated Series
A couple of you recommended the route of stop motion animation. This unnerved me. I was like “what the heck do I know about that?”. And then at the festival I met a guy named Evan who runs a studio in Toronto called Stop Motion Dept. Their work is amazing. If I can find the funding, I can get them on this project. But stop motion is the direction I’m currently exploring as I feel it can express the characters in a way that honours the photography based books. I also met a producer in France who wants to help me find the funding. Cool. Because I have no idea how to do this piece of the puzzle.
Brownies
I’m going to make brownies today as a reward for getting over a cold. Why? Because I found a recipe in a book Julie Van Rosendaal gifted me. And they look perfect. Will report back if they worked out.
What should I talk about next week?
Who should I have a conversation with?
AMA in the comments.
This is gonna live on Substack only.
That’s all, happy Sunday everyone. Tuesday is Canada day. I’m grateful to be here. Grateful for healthcare. Grateful for the stolen land I live on. Grateful that most of us celebrate diversity. Grateful for peace. Grateful for clean air. Hopeful that we’ll be better, always.
Look at this video of a Swainson’s Thrush I took on my phone!
Ok bye,
Andrew, Yaya, & Boo
