I’m not sure if the bookshelves are ready for the amount of Yaya & Boo I’m about to deliver. Heck, I’m not even ready. But I signed a contract and I’m doing it and I couldn’t be more thrilled to tell you that it’s my biggest deal yet: four (4!) books! In the same style and format as Let’s Find Yaya & Boo, these board books will be as colourful as I can humanly make them, and hopefully loads of fun on every page.
I’m wrapping up the first of four now, it’s an ode to one of my childhood favourites, Richard Scarry’s Cars, Trucks and Things That Go. I spent so much time going through Richard Scarry’s books, exploring the streets and the stories within them. As I’ve been creating this new book, I started asking myself what the story was in each scene. Of course, I didn’t have the budget for pyrotechnics when working with the fire truck, but most scenes are telling a little story that I hope adds an element of magic to each page.
What do you want to see in the next three books? Tell me what books your little ones are in love with. Tell me what you enjoy as much as your kids. I want you to have fun looking at these photos too!
A big thanks to Alex Arnold and the team at Quirk for always supporting me, and to my agent Judy Linden for holding my hand along the way. I love a little hand holding for anything that requires paperwork. And a huge shout out to my friend Pauline Holden who assisted in a lot of the photos and helped me wrangle props and dogs and make a thousand metric tons of foam for the car wash scene. Of course, a big thanks to the owners of these vehicles who let Yaya and Boo run around your boats and planes and cars and trucks.
There are inevitable moments of magic that occur when I put my heart into a book. The moment that surprised me the most was after I built a cardboard town for one of the scenes. Specifically the scene using a Little Tikes car (if you know anyone who works for Little Tikes, please let me know, I’d love to reach out to them). I brought this little cardboard town to a local elementary school and spent a morning making crafts with the kids. It’s one of my favourite summer moments.
Here, check out a few outtakes from the new book. Can’t wait to share the whole thing with you. While you wait for the new book, you can always find Let’s Find Momo!, Let’s Find Momo Outdoors!, and Let’s Find Yaya & Boo At Home! at your local bookstore or library.
With love,
Andrew, Yaya & Boo

Hi!!! This is the best news!! I just joined this newsletter yesterday to see if I could contact you to say our 18 month old is yaya’s biggest fan and would like more books :) What a great announcement to see this afternoon we are so excited!
I love these pics and can't wait to order the book. My suggestion for the next one is having Boo and Yaya visit places that are typically scary for children, like the hospital, the dentist, first day of school etc. They can tell stores that entertain and reassure children that everything will be okay.
