My siblings and i were talking the other day about all the amazing, tender, thoughtful short form children's programming we all grew up with on CBC. Raising my daughter stateside, i would record morning programming to play for her when were back home in Seattle.
I think this is a brilliant idea and i know you have the heart and vision for this. Huzzah!
Love this! Seems like a creative, natural progression of your work. I'm a writer and editor with some grant writing experience who loves film & TV -- and dogs! I've never made an animated show either, but if you want to chat, maybe there's a place for me on your team. If you want to connect, send me a DM and we can take it from there.
Watch the episode of Parks & Rec where Ben makes a claymation video before you commit to that media :) this is so exciting. Can’t wait to see the finished product.
I love this, Andrew! Momo, Boo, Yaya, and you have brought so much to my life with the joy (and sorrow) of life with a dog. My own experience of being a part of a dogs life is at times very comical and my mom always said I could write a book with the stories I tell her about my goofballs. I'm really looking forward to being on the journey and will pass on any ideas I may come up with.
Andrew, This sounds like the most natural evolution of your craft and love for dogs. Take the time you need to gather the perfect team together. It will be a labour of love, for certain. Yaya and Boo lend themselves to endless story lines. May I suggest that Momo be the omnipresent narrator? Sort of a "God Dog" entity? Momo always struck me as a wise, old soul -- capable of insight beyond our human capacity. One look into his eyes confirmed this for me.years ago. Sort of a Yoda for the masses of dogs and their parents, everywhere.
Wonderful, Andrew! I love your approach from the heart in all you do. That mix of scary and exciting is so familiar; I can’t count all the times I let the scary part stop me from doing something exciting. Don’t let that happen to you! Your ideas are amazing. Can’t wait for more.
I loved this idea! I'm sure it will work somehow! Maybe an idea to start is to reach out to Animation Universities and see if they are interested in a partnership for grad student projects. This way, they could have an actual project for the student's work, and you could explore different styles and possibilities for the show. The Vancouver area has great animation universities!
Oooh yes! This is everything. I am a stagnant artist, inspired! I would love to connect!! I am a wonderful collaborator and would love to find a way to ignite the creative spark on such a beautiful idea of a project. Touching on the subject of grief somehow, teaching little ones emotional regulation… a DREAM of a series & a lovely ride to be along on 🎢

This is inspiring, Bridget! Thank you so much for believing in me ❤️

Ooooh thanks heather! I've done some research about grants and there *might* be one I can apply for. I'll send a DM!

Thank you so much Sandy! It really was born out of the question “what good can I give this world?”. Turning my existential anxiety into action ❤️

I read it! Sounds interesting 👍🏼

Thank
All dog owners wonder "what are they thinking?" - can't wait to hear what's on Yaya and Boo's minds!
Have you considered approaching a school that offers animation programs to develop your idea into a group or grad project?
