Love this - especially the idea that the list of good things is always longer!

I recently read an excellent book called Humankind: A Hopeful History (Rutger Bregman) which explores similar ideas. I'd highly recommend it if you're craving a deeper dive on the theme! :)

So true, I read this in Dutch and English and it's a great book. Gives you hope right?

Absolutely! So many surprising stories - and lots of data - offering a much more positive outlook than the sensationalist headlines we're so used to seeing online. I'm very grateful I came across it!

It's so insanely long it would take too long to list so we must just focus on a few things because brain

This reminds me of something I read about and also (naturally) saw ok the TikToks - "glimmers". A glimmer is a micro-moment throughout the day that spark a sense of well being, and it can be anything, no matter how small. My friend and I tell each other at least one glimmer we experience throughout the day and it has become my favorite part of the day!

Got a giggle from the floaters. Thought I was dying first time I had them and of course no one I know knew what I was talking about. Have had them now for years. Can't say they get better or use to them like the doc said. But you are so right about so many things are so much better than bad. :):):)

Omg they told me the same thing and they are just as apparent as ever. I really do mourn the clear blue skies sometimes, though. You don't know what you got till it's gone, haha. Luckily it's pretty trivial in the grand scheme of things!

Hi Andrew, I just pre-ordered 2 copies of your book. Wish it would get here sooner!! My grandson in Washington DC loves your books(he's 2) and I'm sending the other copy to friends of mine in the Netherlands. Looking forward to it as always! I also would recommend the Rutger Bregman book mentioned earlier. Such an upbeat look on humankind. You'd love it!

I read it in Dutch and also in English, the English translation is very good.

This makes me think of that book, The Better Angels of our Nature. In the long and winding road of human development we are undoubtedly living in the best time.

Thank you Andrew for sharing this. This gives me a little boost of motivation, to look at all the good things that I have now over the plain, dull life I was complaining about. This is great. Sending love to Yaya and Boo and You from Malaysia.

I absolutely adore this post - and all your posts, let's be honest. It reminds me of Neil Pasricha's "The Book of Awesome". If you haven't read it, its worth picking up. I also smiled at the little floaters in your eyes. I will at times get ocular migraines that swirl my vision into a kaleidoscope - its something else. But that hasn't happened in a long while and I tuck that into my "million good things" palm. There are so many wonderful things and I try my best to focus and have gratitude on the good bits so that the bad bits don't overwhelm. I hope tomorrow you discover another million good bits and I hope there's a part 2 to this post. :)
